Itinerary

In the town of San Pedro de Cumbaza, about two hours away on foot, you will find the unknown and beautiful waterfall of Huacamaillo. It is a waterfall usually frequented by people from the region and not as crowded as other more well-known destinations. Protected by natural barriers, to contemplate its beauty we will have to walk for two hours along a path set up in the middle of the jungle where we will cross the Cumbaza river three times. During the transit we can rest and bathe in it to tone muscles before resuming the march to our final destination. After a good walk, the Huacamaillo Waterfall will appear before our eyes, which has a height of twenty meters and its waters rush towards a natural pool where it is possible to swim and cool off. Its name is justified when you arrive and notice the large population of macaws that exist in its territory. Once we get to the waterfall we can also cool off in its waters and have lunch there before starting back to Tarapoto. This tour to the Huacamaillo waterfall is especially recommended if you like to walk and enjoy a long walk in the middle of nature.
