35 km from the city of Puno and 4000 meters above sea level is the imposing Laguna Umayo. place that keeps history and protects the impressive tombs of Sillustani. A series of funerary mausoleums built by the ancient Qollas settlers and later the Incas.
At present you can see around 90 chullpas or funerary mausoleums, between these there are 2 types of constructions. The first based on stone and mud mortar, which was built by the ancient Qollas settlers, the second type of construction belongs to the Incas, the chullpas were made from finely carved stone. At present the constructions of these mausoleums arouse the interest of many travelers, not only because of what they mean, but also because of their location and the care and respect that the ancients had for the ancient settlers of the Altiplano.
ITINERARY:
The Chullpas de Sillustani tour begins between 1:30 and 1:45, when we will pick you up from your respective Hotel / Hostel. The pick-up of our passengers is carried out in compliance with the biosecurity provisions of the MINSA.
At 2:00 pm, we will leave the city for Sillustani, located 45 minutes from Puno. Upon arriving at the archaeological center, our guides will begin with an explanation of the mausoleums and the origin of the Umayo lagoon. The tour lasts approximately 3:30 hours. time in which you will be able to tour the archaeological center and enjoy impressive views of the lake. The tour ends at 5:00 pm, when we will board the bus that will take you back to the city of Puno.
