The Waqrapukara fortress is an impressive tourist attraction located in the province of Acos - Cusco. This structure that reflects the extensive knowledge of pre-Inca and Inca architects, combines lithic constructions in elevated places without modifying the natural environment.

Itinerary

The tour begins with the pick up from your Hotel / Hostel, between 4:00 and 04:30 am. The process is carried out in compliance with the biosafety and health protocols established by the MINSA.

We will start our adventure to Waqrapukara at around 5:00 am, we will go to the Cusipata district, where we will have a local breakfast, then we will continue the trip along a zigzagging unpaved road for approximately 40 min more. We will descend at the place called Punta de Carretera, where we will prepare to start the walk to the Waqrapukara fortress. Throughout the walk we will observe beautiful landscapes typical of the region such as; high Andean lagoons (cochas), upon reaching the "cochas" we will have a first photo session and then we will begin the descent towards the Waqrapukara fortress, the walk is approximately 40 min more until we reach the ceremonial center. At this point you will be able to observe impressive rock formations that give rise to the Apurímac river valley, you will also appreciate a series of terraces and constructions from pre-Inca and Inca times. Our guide will begin with the explanation and we will continue with the tour that lasts approximately 1 hour and a half. After some time for the photographs we will get ready to start with the return walk to the Waqrapukara Viewpoint, after a rest we will continue to the site called Punta de Carretera, where our tourist transport will wait for us that will take us back to the city of Cusco. We will arrive in the city approximately between 6:00 and 7:00 pm.
